Creating memories.....one vacation at a time!

Where the Rainforest Meets the Reef

Cairns (pronounced “cans”), on the northeast coast of Queensland, is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, Port Douglas, the World Heritage Daintree Rainforest, Cape Tribulation and the Outback.  Cairns is a great base from which to explore the above areas, the islands & cays, and other surrounding spots of interest. 120,000 people live in Cairns.

You can stay in Cairns or in Trinity Beach, Kewarra Beach or Palm Cove.  That’s where the white sand beaches are located.  They are about 20 minutes from Cairns.

Life in Cairns centers around the harbour and Trinity Wharf.  This is the departure point for visits to the Great Barrer Reef.

The Esplanade (above) was once a mudflat and now has an outdoor amphitheater, swimming lagoon, picnic areas, BBQ’s, shops, restaurants and the Esplanade Cruise Terminal. There is an Esplanade Market every Saturday from 8-4.

Cairns Night Market starts at 5 p.m. and has over 70 vendors.  A “must do” while you are in Cairns.

The Cairns Zoo is one place where you can cuddle a koala.
