Creating memories...one vacation at a time!

We visited an agricultural school which has a lovely botantical garden.  The school has 175 students who attend for 3 years, going home on weekends.  This is where the hotels get all their flowers.   First we toured the gardens, then bellied up to the bar to sample some of the many fruit jellies they make plus their wonderful ice cream!  You can also buy fresh vanilla here.

Didi pointed out the vanilla bean plant.  The flower of the vanilla bean is the orchid.  The plant is pollinated by hand, then put in a dark room where it turns a lovely dark brown.   Tahiti vanilla is considered the best in the world.
