The Barossa is one hour north of Adelaide and is Australia’s best-known wine region. Established in 1842, there are over 70 cellar doors (wineries) and 600 grape-growing families. The valley produces Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Riesling, Semillon, Viognier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Among the cellar doors in the area are Penfolds, Jacobs Creek, Wolf Bass, Seppelt, Saltram, and Peter Lehmann.
