Among the things you can do when you visit Kakadu National Park are take a cruise to spot crocodiles, hike to billabongs, visit aboriginal rock sites and cultural centers which teach you about Australia’s first people. Below are some photos taken in 2005 of amazing Kakadu National Park. |

UBIRR & NOURLANGIE ROCK ART SITES |
There are many art sites throughout Kakadu, but the aboriginal owners of the land only allow access to three of them. On our guided tour we visited Nourlangie and Ubirr Rock sites. Our guide taught us the different art styles, how the rock art could be dated by the type of the drawing, and he told us what it meant. Only the men were allowed to paint, and since the aboriginals are a nomadic people these paintings were left behind to tell the next group that came along what they could do in this area.
