In September we drove the Sunshine Coast which is one hour north of Brisbane. It is an area of small towns with interesting names - Bribie Island, Caloundra, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Mudjimba, Yandina, Eumundi, Beerwah, Coolum, Noosa and Cooloola. It is the gateway to the world’s largest sand island, Fraser Island. There are all sorts of water activities off the coast from windsurfing, parasailing, yachting, boating, scuba diving, fishing, bush walking, rock climbing, houseboating and picnicking and there are several national parks to explore. One of the biggest attractions on the Sunshine Coast is Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo, which is located in Beerwah. Others are Noosa and Hastings Street, the Noosa National Park and the Noosa Everglades, the Eumundi Markets which are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Rainbow Beach, Tin Can Bay (you can feed dolphins there), Fraser Island, the Great Sandy Strait, and the historic gold mining town of Gympie.
