Creating memories.....one vacation at a time!

In September we drove the Sunshine Coast which is one hour north of Brisbane.  It is an area of small towns with interesting names - Bribie Island, Caloundra, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Mudjimba, Yandina, Eumundi, Beerwah, Coolum, Noosa and Cooloola.  It is the gateway to the world’s largest sand island, Fraser Island.  There are all sorts of water activities off the coast from windsurfing, parasailing, yachting, boating, scuba diving, fishing, bush walking, rock climbing, houseboating and picnicking and there are several national parks to explore.  One of the biggest attractions on the Sunshine Coast is Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo, which is located in Beerwah.  Others are Noosa and Hastings Street, the Noosa National Park and the Noosa Everglades, the Eumundi Markets which are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Rainbow Beach, Tin Can Bay (you can feed dolphins there), Fraser Island, the Great Sandy Strait, and the historic gold mining town of Gympie.  Below are some photos of some of the experiences you can have on the Sunshine Coast.

Noosa has become the “go to” town along the Sunshine Coast!

Coolum is also home to the Australian PGA championships.

What a way to see a beach - on a camel. Leave it to the Aussies!

Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo is located in Beerwah which is one hour north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast.  There are over 1,000 animals and ten shows daily.

Here are some fun things that you can do on Rainbow Beach on the Sunshine Coast.   Sky diving,
watching whales (August to mid-November), surfing, and parasailing.

Gympie is an old mining town and here are a couple of photos from that town.  Left:  Miner’s sculpture and above the Rattler Steam Train.

At Tin Can Bay, you can feed dolphins (above)  or rent a Tin Can Bay houseboat and sail the Great Sandy Strait looking for dugongs.
