New Zealand has two islands - the North and the South Island. They are two very distinct areas. The North Island has Auckland, the Bay of Islands, Rotorua, Napier, the wine country and Wellington, the capital. The South Island has Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown and is a land of glaciers, soaring peaks and raging glacial rivers. It is the land of the Lord of the Rings.
