Creating memories...one vacation at a time!

Driving the Overseas Highway is an experience unto itself. The majority of the road is two lanes with the Florida Bay on one side in the Upper Keys which then becomes the Gulf of Mexico in the Lower Keys.   On the opposite side of the road is the Atlantic Ocean.  Funky, tacky, electic are words that describe the drive.  It’s like going back to the 50’s and entering a whole new world.  From Ft. Lauderdale, Key West is 190.3 miles and it takes 3 hours, 40 minutes and from Miami International Airport it is 160.8 miles and takes 3 hours 17 minutes.    The photos below are some of the interesting things we saw on our way to Key West.

Burdines - good place for lunch.

If you get off the main road, you will find many harbors and interesting homes with their boats tied up to their docks.  The picture above was taken in Duck Key.

Before long you are giggling at the funky mailboxes that seem to be in everyone’s driveway.
