Tahiti is a mountainous island which is home to the capital city of Papeete. Tourists arriving in Tahiti arrive at the Faaa airport and either stay in Tahiti for a
couple of days or catch an interisland flight over to Moorea, Huahine, Bora Bora or the other outer islands. The island is noted for its market, black pearl shops, museums and
restaurants. Driving around the island is always a lot of fun because you discover the Fern Grotto, archaelogical ruins, waterfalls, the blowhole and many other interesting sites. A fun
experience is to go downtown Papette after 5 p.m. and eat at one of the many food vans, called roulottes, that gather after dark on the waterfront. From Tahiti you can look across the Sea of the Moon
