Creating memories.....one vacation at a time!

The Huon Valley is located south of Hobart and follows the Huon River.  Tasmania is known as the “Apple Isle”, and the majority of apples and other fruits are produced in the Huon region.  Huonville is the largest town in the area and the Huon Valley is also the gateway to the Hartz Mountains National Park.

Within the National Park there are various walks through the Arve Valley, with picnic spots and lookouts. Most walks are easy and short, although some four hour return walks to Hartz Peak can be attempted. The Tahune Forest Reserve permits fishing, rafting and camping. The world's tallest hardwood trees are located in the park.

A fun thing to do in the Huon Valley is visit the Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs.  Above are pictures taken in the
Newdegate Cave.

The Huon Jet provides an exciting jet boat ride up the rapids of the Huon River, or, for those who aren't game, pedal boats are available for hire. Another method of seeing the valley is via one of the horseback wilderness tours.

In Geeveston, the Forest & Heritage Centre explains the history of the region, and  the animals which live in the nearby forests. The little town has full-size wood sculptures everywhere.  There is also the Huon Valley Apple and Heritage Museum near Grove.

You can walk in the treetops canopy at the Tahune Forest AirWalk.
