Charlottetown is the capital of Prince Edward Island and is the "Birthplace of the Confederation". At the Province House, the Fathers of Confederation met and that
conference led to the formation of the Dominion of Canada in 1867. Lucy Maud Montgomery went to Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown and much of her writing uses Charlottetown as a
backdrop. The Confederation Centre of the Arts hosts the annual and popular Charlottetown Festival musical production, Anne of Green Gables all summer long.
