	FIGLINE VALDARNO, TUSCANY One of the wonderful things to do in Italy is to stay at a villa and explore the town near the village. Figline Valdano is a medieval town built at the end of the 12th century and is 44 minutes from Florence and an excellent location to explore the Chianti region.

			The town has a population of approximately 17,000.


	La Porta del Chianti on Via Casel Guneli is a good place to eat.

HOTEL VILLA CASAGRANDE
The Villa Casagrande dates back to 1392 when it was commissioned to be built by a Florentine notary, Serristori. It is half palace, half villa and today has two swimming pools, a spa, a museum of farm equipment and rooms where the Serristory family lived, a winery, an Italian garden and two restaurants. Through the years it has evolved into having 65 rooms and 12 apartments and it even has a clinic for plastic surgery.

Guided tours of 15th century Noble Floor of the villa are offered giving you a glimpse of the life style of the Serristori family.

The villa also has a winery and tours are offered.

When they renovate they incorporate the old with the new.

The villa has a farm museum.

Villa Casagrande has two restaurants and they offer cooking classes.

This is the bedroom where Pope Leon X slept when he visited the villa. He was the son of Lorenzo the Magnificient of the Medici family.

Wine tastings are also offered in the wine cellar. The villa also makes their own olive oil.
