Part of the fun of a road trip, is seeing the scenery and being able to stop in small towns. We took the coastal route to Ragusa and came upon Marzamemi on the Ionian Sea. Marzamemi is a tiny tuna fishing village, (population less than 500). The tuna factories closed in 1969 but the charm of the village remains. We were so far off the tourist route, that there were few American tourists, mostly Italian and Sicilian tourists. Marzamemi is centered around a plaza - Piazza Regina Margherita and below are some photos of this wonderful small village..
