Dining at the Roulottes

Any travel agent can issue a ticket or book a cruise . . .
We create Travel Experiences . . . that extra effort is our hallmark!

A fun Tahitian experience is to go into Papeete and eat at the roulottes on the dock.  The roulottes are food vans which appear every evening along the waterfront parking lot, at the north end of Boulevard Pomare.   This is where the Tahitians eat and the vendors serve some of the best inexpensive food in town. You can feast on grilled chicken, seafood and meat, Chinese food, crepes, ice creams and pizza.

We gathered on the patio at the InterContinental Tahiti and waited for the bus to come to take us to the roulottes.

You never know what will be cooking when you go down to the roulottes.  This is a pig.

Tables are set up outside the vans so you dine alfresco.

This chef owns a restaurant in Papeete and also has his own food van where he cooks the most delicious crepes!.

The food vans start appearing around 6 p.m. on the dock.

A typical meal costs around $10!

Stevie enjoyed the atmosphere at the roulottes.

Sylvia ordered mahi mahi.  You are served wonderful french bread, crispy pommes frites (french fries) and a salad.
