Circle Island Tour of Tahiti

Any travel agent can issue a ticket or book a cruise . . .
We create Travel Experiences . . . that extra effort is our hallmark!

Tuesday, February 1:  Our favorite Tahitian, Angele, of Marama Tours, took our group on a Circle Island Tour of Tahiti.   Tahiti is the largest island and is shaped like a figure eight.  The largest part is called Tahiti Nui and is connected by the Isthmus of Taravao to the smaller section, Tahiti Iti.  The main road, which circles the island, is 73 miles long. Going around the island of Tahiti is like discovering the history of Tahiti & Her Islands.

Angele greets us as we board the bus.  This was her third time guiding the Insider's Tour, and she provides a running commentary, as well as songs and jokes.

Victoria & Warren choose a baguette.  In this Polynesian paradise,  the French bread is baked fresh every morning by Chinese bakers  - go figure!  But there is a reason for this - the Chinese were brought from Canton to Tahiti to work on cotton plantations, but when the cotton market declined they were out of work.  Many stayed in Tahiti because they were encouraged to marry Tahitians and many became bakers and shop owners.
