HUSAVIK, THE WHALE CAPITAL OF ICELAND, GODDAFOSS, GEOTHERMAL AREA & LAKE MYVTAN We arrived into Husavik in North Iceland in Skjafandi Bay at 7:30 pm. Husavik means “Bay of Houses” and this town of over 2,000 people was settled before 874AD. The town has a wooden church, Husavikurkirja which was built in 1907 and overlooks a very picturesque harbor. Husavik is considered the best place to see whales since their operators have a 100% success rate in seeing whales. At 8 pm we went whale watching on a boat called Sylvia. That night we saw many whales who were surfacing and blowing water. We even saw one whale breeching.
